The Nardone Mid-Summer Classic
It all started in early 2000. The Y2K Scare had come and gone and so had all of Chris's friends as evidenced by this personal file photo. Having grown tired of playing with himself, Chris Nardone decided he wagoing to find someone to play with even if he had to organize his own tournament.
NARDIES MID-SUMMER CLASSIC WAS BORN
A golf tournament in the middle of the summer for fun and prizes...had humble beginnings in the year 2000 at Squirrel Run. The following year it moved to Southers Marsh Country Club, a more challenging track nestled in and around cranberry bogs that you could still get through in under three hours.
From there, Nardie's Mid-Summer Classic grew some roots and began to pick up steam. More and more people started crawling out of the woodwork for some good golf, good food and good times.
Going to the dogs
Six years deep, he decided to give a little back and offer players a tax relief with part of the proceeds going to the Friends of The Plymouth Pound.
Chris tries to add value without raising entry fees. And this year he is introducing a Hole in One Challenge for Cash and Prizes and a Final Putt of Death Contest for some big retail backyard items.
What is he going to do next year?
Thanks to all that play.
